Site Specific Grounding & Lightning Protection Designs
We employ years of real-world experience and a scientific, engineering process to design grounding systems made to the specific site where it will be installed. Our grounding system design is created to meet or exceed any site’s grounding requirements.
Our 4-Step Ground System Design Methodology is the process we use to achieve a predictable, controlled result. The purpose of the 4-Step Methodology is to provide a grounding system design with predictable performance. The result is that the grounding system performance will be known prior to installation, and this eliminates the need for continued efforts and site visits.

Ground Potential Rise Studies
Understanding the hazards posed by high voltage fault conditions to personnel and equipment is becoming critical as more sites utilize high voltage environments for locations such as communication towers.
Lyncole performs Ground Potential Rise studies for clients when they are installing a facility grounding system in or near a high voltage environment. These studies use the fault clearing time, available fault current, and other factors to calculate the ground potential rise (GPR) and step/touch potentials. Lyncole engineers perform these calculations in order to determine what measures are required to make the site safe for workers and the public alike.
Soil Resistivity Testing
Resistivity testing data is the basis of any predictable grounding system design. It represents the resistance of the earth to the flow of electrical current. Soil resistivity testing is determined by the type of soil, its moisture, and electrolyte content and temperature.
Our tests are performed where several samples of soil are collected at different depths and different locations, so an adequate design can be accomplished. Our engineers then use this soil resistivity testing to create a three-dimensional representation of the grounding system which is combined with the layered soil model to predetermine the achieved resistance to earth. The result is a design based upon science, not estimation.
Testing procedures are provided by request. Contact us for more information!

Grounding System Compliance Testing
The ground system is critical for the protection, reliability, and performance of sensitive equipment. Verifying that a newly installed grounding system or your “old” one meets the specification is very important for the validation of design, equipment warranty, and establishment of a baseline for future testing.
Specification Reviews and Writing
As part of our grounding engineering solutions, we provide a Grounding Specification review and writing for every industry specific to the application and client.
