VFC Group – Different by Design
As the Lightning Protection (LP) industry in the United States has grown, so has the number of companies offering lightning protection services. Today, there are hundreds of firms operating nationwide. To many observers, they may look interchangeable. But for electrical engineers, electrical contractors, owners, and facility managers, especially those responsible for critical infrastructure, the differences matter greatly.
At the VFC Group, we believe lightning protection should never be treated as a commodity. Our systems, products, and operations are Different by Design, intentionally engineered to deliver performance, durability, and long-term reliability well beyond minimum code requirements.
System Design: Comprehensive, Smart, and Engineered for Resilience
True lightning protection is more than air terminals and down conductors. If a system does not integrate structural lightning protection, potential equalization, grounding, and surge protection devices (SPD), it is incomplete. VFC excels across all four disciplines, delivering fully integrated systems designed to protect structures, equipment, operations, and people.
Our approach is also fundamentally Smart. VFC leads the U.S. in the use of advanced inspection, testing, monitoring, and maintenance technologies. Lightning protection does not end at installation, verification, ongoing performance, and lifecycle management are essential, and our systems are designed with that in mind.
What truly sets VFC apart is our depth of technical expertise. Our teams include LPI and UL Certified Master Installers and Designers, supported by a full-time technical staff of electrical engineers, grounding experts, and specialists across related disciplines. We do not simply meet code, we engineer beyond it. Compliance is the baseline; performance, durability, and lifecycle reliability are the objective.
Product Design: Purpose-Built, State of the Art
VFC designs and manufactures specific product lines because the industry needed better solutions. Product lines like XIT, TKU, VertStick, MagStick, and True-Test Well were invented to solve real jobsite, inspection, and maintenance challenges. Challenges we encountered in the field long before others acknowledged them.
Our “Smart” products are smart by intention, not novelty. Technologies such as LightningLink, GRM-2500, and StrikeSense bring structural lightning protection and grounding systems into the 21st century. These solutions are designed to protect long-term return on investment (ROI) by enabling visibility, verification, and proactive maintenance over the life of the system.
Company Design: Built for Scale, Safety, and Critical Execution
The VFC Group includes VFC Lightning Protection, Taylor Lightning Protection, and Lyncole, creating the most comprehensive organizational platform in the industry. With 17 U.S. locations, 4 international operations, and over 400 professionals, we deliver consistency at scale without sacrificing quality.
Built like the customers we serve. Our company structure mirrors the environments our customers operate in. Field work is performed by two-person crews, led by experienced Lead Installers who report directly to Regional Project Managers, with clear accountability up through the Company Presidents. At every level, teams are fully supported by the breadth of the VFC Group’s organization and technical resources, ensuring rapid decision-making, consistent quality, and the ability to perform in today’s most demanding project environments.
Safety and execution are core to our operational design. Our national safety program is led by two full-time dedicated safety professionals and consistently delivers industry-leading performance. Our processes are built for environments where failure is not an option: critical facilities, data centers, military, power generation, etc. execution no matter the demanding project requirements.
Lightning protection companies are not all the same. At the VFC Group, every system, product, and process is intentionally engineered for performance and resilience. That is what it means to be Different by Design
